> speed camera database information and downloads
**
please note that this software does not include any speed camera
database **
if you wish to use this feature you will need to procure a database for
your country. please read the information below on where to download a suitable database.
[ database format
gps speed sentry supports speed camera databases using the csv file format
specified on the pocket gps world website (www.pocketgpsworld.com). we do plan to support more file types soon but for now the file should be formatted in this way.
the csv file must contain three columns laid out as follows;
Longitude,Latitude,Name
174.00000,-36.00000,"GATSO:1@50"
174.00000,-36.00000,"SPECS:2@80"
174.00000,-36.00000,"MOBILE:3@30"
174.00000,-36.00000,"TEMP:4@100"
etc...
the first line is a header which should be present if possible. the
first line is not read so if its not present the first camera will not
be loaded.
the following lines list the cameras position (longitude, latitude) and
then the name of the camera. the camera name contains the camera type,
id and speed limit. the name must be enclosed in quotes. all fields
should be populated (for example if speed limits are unknown use a zero
after the @ symbol).
using microsoft excel to move columns or reformat data is advisable. excel
does however get rid of quotes so you may need to add these back in if the file is saved in excel. text
editors like textpad or pspad (free) are also good for doing search and
replace operations on large files.
[ database reformatting
if you have access to a
camera database in another format we can assist in reformatting.
please
check with the author of the data if this is allowed as most database
have copyrights associated with them. if possible we would like to make
the database available through our site but again check with the author
of the data to see if this is allowed.
